It’s Time To Give Back By Kristie Galvani November 11, 2011

Categories: Business,Clients,Social Media

nefcu-logoThe Holiday Season is typical for giving back. Many individuals and companies join in on the spirit of giving and do something nice for others.

One of our clients is using social media to help out local charities. NEFCU, a leading credit union serving all of Long Island’s banking needs, is donating $5,000 to local charities this holiday season through Facebook. Charities must fall under their corporate giving guidelines.

To qualify, the charity must: enhance learning and educational enthusiasm of Long Island students, promote financial education and literacy for youth, inspire character, citizenship, sportsmanship and social consciousness for youth, support arts in education, promote the health and wellness of children and teens.

You can nominate charities that you believe are deserving of a little extra holiday cheer by positing on NEFCU’s Facebook wall. NEFCU will select the three most frequently nominated charities and will then allow their Facebook fans the opportunity to ‘Like’ their favorite charity. The charity with the most “likes” will receive a charitable contribution from NEFCU in the amount of $2,500. The second most frequently liked charity will receive $1,500, and the third will receive $1,000.
