Google Plus and the Early Adopters… January 9, 2012

Categories: Business,My Thoughts,Social Media

Google Plus Google+I find it interesting that Guy Kawasaki, Robert Scoble, Pete Cashmore, Steve Rubel and Seth Brogin. primarily use  Google Plus. This social networking site, seems like the site of choice among early social media adopters.

Google Plus is similar to Facebook but integrates gmail, calendar, YouTube videos, photos, etc. into one accessible spot.  Once you’re signed in, you really don’t need to go anywhere else.

I just read the new Chris Brogin’s new book on Google Plus. I always say that if you can pick up one or two tips, the book was worth the read and this one had several of interesting facts about Google Plus.  One of his tips included using photos and videos on your status updates. He claims this will enhance conversations.

He also suggests hangouts for business development.  Think of the possibilities of having a video chat with 10 people at the same time.  You can host an intimate seminar, a small networking gathering or even a private concert.

So, what do I suggest? I don’t know if I love this site as much as Chris does. I still like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and some of the others.  The verdict is still out, but I will certainly keep on an eye on Google Plus

P.S. I wonder if Yahoo creates a social networking site that is bigger and better than Google Plus, if all of these “early adopters” will jump ship and move on to the next thing?  And, will everyone else follow?

It seems like Google Plus is starting to make its way into pop culture. I’ve been noticing more and more tv shows and commercials referencing it.
