Jazz Concert at Czech Center…

jazz_band.JPGThe Czech Republic Embassy is located on 73rd Street between 1st and 2nd in Manhattan. Housed in a landmark building that has marble columns on the outside and high ceilings and big windows on the inside, the Embassy is totally renovated and modernized. It’s a beautiful building and the best part, it’s for rent!

Looking to have your wedding, a corporate party or even a fashion show somewhere special? Check out the Czech Republic Embassy. I am endorsing this facility because I think it’s a great place to throw a party.

Last night, Lori Alexy and I went to a concert there. The concert was a European Jazz Improvisation celebrating the Czech Presideny of the EU. It included musicians from many of the European countries including: Luxemburg, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Finland, France, German and even the Czech Republic.

Through the years, I have seen lots of jazz bands but I have never seen one with someone playing the vocals! There was a guy from Argentina who made the most remarkable noises with his mouth! He also had some very interesting nonverbal movements, as he swayed to the rhythm of the electric guitar and saxophone.

The band was good. It really wasn’t my favorite type of music but I will say that the musicians were outstanding. They were all professionals and really knew how to play their instruments well.

Following the concert, the Czech Republic sponsored a lovely reception on the third floor with wines from the Czech Republic along with hors deourvres and desserts. It was a nice evening.
