A Working Mother’s World…

On Monday, after a hectic day at work, I left early from work to race home to take my son to his little league championship game. The team was practicing at the High School so I drove my son there and ran a few errands. When I picked him up at 6 pm, it was raining. It was actually pouring with thunder and lightning.

“Is there going to be a game?” I asked the coach.

“Yeah, I think we’re going to try to get it in…” he said.

We drove over to the recreation department. It was still pouring. When we got there, we sat in the car. My son opened up the door and ran over to the other cars that had other players in them. The boys got out of the car and ran around in the rain. Then someone shouted, a rainbow.

Before my eyes, a rainbow that stretched the entire sky with all its colors stared in front of me. It was amazing!

Within moments, the sky cleared up and the coach yelled, “let’s play ball!”

We walked over to the field and I sat on the bleacher. It was wet. It soaked through my pants and made me feel colder than I already felt. The wind was gusting and it felt like it was November not June! The game started at 7 pm and lasted until 9:30 pm with extra innings. At the end, my son’s team won. I was proud of him but really was just happy to go home!
