Commuting on the LIRR…

Kudos to all of you out there who commute into and out of the city every day!

I typically drive. I love being in my car. I’m comfortable. I have my music blasting and if I get a call, my music stops and I can talk through the sound system in my E350.

This morning, I decided to take the train into the city. My first appointment was at the Empire State Building. The Council of PR Firms held a round table discussion at one of the firm’s offices in the Empire State Building.

I woke up at normal time, 5:30 am, got dressed, made the kids lunches and headed out for the 7:04 am. When I missed the train, I got myself a cup of java and read the newspaper until the 7:23 am left the station. When we got to Penn Station, it wasn’t too bad of a walk to the appointment. But on the way home, I left my office on 57th and Madison and took the E train to Penn. I ended up missing a bunch of trains and caught the 6:38 pm back home.

I just got home. It’s 8:08 pm. I’m wiped out! I don’t know what that train does but every time I take it I’m exhausted. Is this what a commuter goes through every day? If so, I give you guys a lot of credit for 13 – 14 hour days every day….
