Facebook’s Backlash…

A few weeks ago, I was reading Newsday, Long Island’s daily newspaper, and I read two very interesting stories that I just couldn’t believe.  I’ll share them with you.

The first was about a Reverend who was giving a sermon in Philadelphia. He claimed that Facebook lead married couples to divorce. He announced that married church leaders “have to log out for good or get kicked out.”  He said that “your past is your past” and that’s where it belongs.

The other story that appeared in Newsday the following day claimed that Facebook triggered a man’s asthma attack.  This story took place in London when an 18 year old man logged onto Facebook and found that his former girlfriend had “friended” a ton of men.  When the ex-girlfriend blocked the man, he had an asthmatic attack.  Now Italian doctors are saying that Facebook could trigger an episode.

Can’t both of these situations happen without the social media element involved?  Does social networking sites really cause an asthma episode or infidelity?

Love to hear your thoughts…

Once you start to speak on Facebook or any social media site weather about your past or present, it is visible for all to see and it is your choice how to share it. If a marriage is strong and healthy partners should be able to “talk” freely to old friends and make new ones or else perhaps their lies some insecurity within their relationship.
As far as the young man logging in and having an asthmatic attack, well I guess it happened.
Too much of anything you rather not see when suddenly visible on a computer screen can be shocking and Facebook can sometimes give me a headache, so I can understand it.
