Flying Again…

I’m flying again and this time on the no-frills airline, Spirit Air. Who cares? For only $110 round trip, my daughter and I are going to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida from Islip Airport on Long Island.

But is it only $110? Then there is the seat charge and depending where you want to sit, $10, $15 or $25 a seat. And then, there’s the charge for drinks, including water. I joked with my daughter that there was even a bathroom charge.

“What?” she said.

“Yeah, you slide your credit card across the door and the bathroom door opens and you only have three minutes to do your business,” I said jokingly.

No frills or frills, I just want to complement the airline for leaving McArthur Airport earlier than expected and having a roomy plane. (Unfortunately, I heard a rumor that they were pulling out of McArthur Airport. And here I just bought a ticket in August. I wonder what happens now?)

We’re going to Florida to visit my parents. They live there full time now and it’s my dad’s 75th birthday. My dad has no idea we are coming down. I spoke with him twice today and he knows nothing….unless my sister slipped during dinner. She and her husband surprised him this morning by showing up at the door. My dad thought she was the UPS person!

In any event, we plan to show up at their house tonight at 11:30 pm. Do you think he’ll be surprised?
