JOMO Book Review

jomo book

JOMO, the Joy of Missing Out, means “being present at the moment, giving yourself space to do exactly what you want, and skipping activities that aren’t authentic to you.”

Recently, I received the Joy of Missing Out book in the mail. Since I thought it was a fun book, I thought I would share this review with you.

JOMO, written by Jessica Misener, is a book that includes 350 activities that you can do with friends, with a partner, or alone, all from the comfort of your own home!

The book is about taking the time out for yourself to recharge yourself by taking a “stay-cation.”

JOMO is a list based book. You flip it open to any page and you can do that activity. Some of the interesting ventures include:

  • Making your own ice cream
  • Listen to a vinyl record
  • DIY spa night
  • Binge episodes of Friends
  • Construct your own sushi
  • Draw portraits with a friend
  • Read Hemingway
  • Find a penpal
  • Play your favorite childhood game

There are 350 of these short paragraph activities and some sound a lot better than others but it’s still a fun read.

The author, Jessica Misener is a senior editor and her work has appeared on BuzzFeed, HuffPost, Cosmopolitan, The Atlantic and more.
