La Grande Boucherie Restaurant Review

Some places you walk by a million times, always telling yourself, “I need to try that someday.” For me, that place was La Grande Boucherie on West 53rd Street. I’ve passed its beautiful exterior more times than I can count, and last week, I finally decided that “someday” had arrived.

A Gorgeous Space

The moment we stepped inside, I was floored. I knew it would be pretty, but the photos don’t do it justice. The space is absolutely gorgeous and so much bigger than I ever imagined. It feels like you’ve been transported straight to a grand brasserie in Paris, with soaring ceilings and stunning art nouveau details. It set the stage for what I hoped would be a fantastic pre-concert meal.

A Memorable Meal

bass

We started with a simple salad, which was fresh and crisp—a perfect light beginning. For our main courses, I chose the Striped Bass, while my husband went with the Duck. And let me tell you, I was so impressed with my meal. The fish was cooked perfectly, but the real star of the show was the crème of avocado it was served with. Paired with fresh, sweet tomatoes, every single bite was a delight. The flavors were so unique and worked together beautifully. To top it off, I had a delicious Bordeaux wine that paired perfectly with the entire experience.

duck

My husband thought his duck was just okay, nothing particularly special, but he still enjoyed the overall atmosphere. We had to skip dessert to make it to our concert on time, which was a shame because I can only imagine how wonderful it would have been.

Final Thoughts on La Grande Boucherie

Even with my husband’s lukewarm take on the duck, I would absolutely recommend La Grande Boucherie. My meal was fantastic, the service was great, and the ambiance was truly special. It’s the perfect spot for a date night or any time you want to feel a little bit fancy. I’m so glad I finally stopped walking by and decided to walk in.
