Product Review: Explore Cuisine

I grew up in a time of junk food, artificial everything and processed everything. No one thought twice about it. We would buy it. We would eat it and that would be that. But today, everyone seems to be much more health conscience and much more aware about what they are putting into their bodies. I certainly am!

So, when Explore Cuisine reached out to me for a review of their new spaghetti, I agreed. Why not try something that isn’t artificial and all natural?

They sent me three boxes of their newest spaghettis — Organic Edamame & Mung Bean Fettuccini, Organic Edamame Spaghetti and Organic Black Bean Spaghetti. All extremely high in protein with 24 grams or more and all have no or little carbs. They are all plant based protein!

I like the whole premise behind the company – offering consumers all natural products that taste great.

Test Drive

I took it for the test drive. Now, remember, I’m a big spaghetti eater. I love pasta but I’ve been trying to avoid it lately, because it seems to be putting weight on me. This sounded perfect for both my husband and me.

The other night I made eggplant parm and decided to pair it with the black bean spaghetti. I boiled the water, like the directions suggested and put the black bean spaghetti into the pot. I used the entire package. I wasn’t sure what to expect or how much to make. I wasn’t sure if we would like this or if it would have a bitter taste.

It didn’t look appealing at all. I was afraid that my husband would spit it out.

It boiled up quickly, within four minutes it was fully cooked.

I poured some sauce over it and served it up along with the eggplant.

We both reluctantly tried it. We were impressed. It was rather good. It didn’t taste like beans, it didn’t really have that much of a taste but it was extremely filling. We had one serving each and we were done. (Usually when I make pasta, we both have a double serving.) I wrapped up the remainder and put it in the refrigerator for lunch.

It was good, not the greatest thing I ever tried, but I know if I have it on an ongoing basis, I can easily get used to it and use it instead of traditional spaghetti. We also tried the Edamame Spaghetti and paired that with Chicken Parm. My son was home and said, “I think this is a meal within itself. It shouldn’t be paired with anything.” I think he may be right. It would probably be good with some vegetables on top and keep it vegetarian, but it wasn’t bad with the chicken.

I’ve been on a new healthy eating kick and I’m glad I finally found a product that will help me on my journey. Thanks Explore Cuisine for showing me the way…
