The Fulton – Restaurant Review

food

The other night, my family and I went to The Fulton by Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport in New York City. The Fulton is Jean-George’s newest restaurant in New York City. It opened nearly two months ago.

The Ambiance:

There is outdoor seating available on both the side of the restaurant and the front of the restaurant, overlooking the East River. They also have a room above the main room that also has a magnificent view of the river.

We sat on the first floor. My daughter and I had a view of the restaurant while my husband and son had a view of the river. It was too breezy to eat outside, so we decided to stay in. It was also very noisy. There is a bar right next door to The Fulton, which made it very loud.

The bathrooms are located on the second floor. You take an elevator up, that’s when I noticed that there was also another sitting area upstairs. The bathrooms are “gender-neutral,” which I found very cool. However, the music was exceptionally loud in the bathrooms. Happily, we didn’t hear it when we were eating.

The food

We started with the Florida Red Snapper Cerviche, the Long Island Fluke and the Octopus and fresh cheese.

I didn’t want to try the octopus but when I did, it tasted good. I thought it would taste “rubbery” but it didn’t. It almost had the consistency of lobster.

All the appetizers were delicious. I found Fluke to be a bit spicy, but the flavors made up for the spice.

Main Courses:

My son had the sampler plate with various shellfish. I ordered the lobster and corn. My daughter and husband had the Longevity Noodles, which consisted of lobster and was one of the notable dishes.

The food was delicious, as I would expect from a Jean-George restaurant.

The wine:

This was the first time we sent a bottle of wine back. The waitress opened the wine and it was fizzy. We ended up ordering another bottle, a different label, and it was fine.

Overall thoughts:

The desserts were amazing

Overall, we were extremely pleased with the appetizers, main course, and desserts. It was a lovely setting. The wait staff was wonderful. They were particularly attentive to our needs. The water was filled constantly and the food came out right away!

The Fulton is not a cheap restaurant, but I didn’t find it particularly expensive either. I actually was surprised that you could get an entree for under $30. Between the appetizers, desserts, and wine, we paid nearly $50 a person. The Fulton is a perfect place for a special anniversary, birthday or just to celebrate life.

If you want to experience a great setting and amazing food, check out The Fulton. We were very pleased with the overall experience.
