Writer’s Block?

It’s hard keeping and maintaining a blog.  You really need to write every day otherwise you loose your audience.  So, I try to come up with clever and/or interesting things to write about.  Then there are times, when I can’t think of anything to say, like, for example, tonight.

That’s why I decided to write about my day.

I thought that my day would be relatively slow today but it turned into a busy day.  I started out driving my son to his school and then going to the gym to run.  My goal today was to run 3 miles.  I accomplished that in 40 minutes (I know that’s slow) and then took a quick shower and headed to work in HJMT‘s Westbury office.

When I got to the office, everything was initially quiet until our first meeting.  Kristie Galvani and I had a new business meeting with an interesting person who is trying to set up some local concerts.  His idea was interesting to us and we ended the meeting very excited about the possibility to work with him.

After that, I started my piece for Blogcritics.org.  I’m reviewing a book on financial planning in 2010.  As I started to write, I got interrupted by one of my staff members asking a question.  Then lots of other questions from various staff members.  The phone rang and it was my 12:30 pm conference call about government contracts.

Next, I got an email from PR News.  They wanted to know if I wanted to write for them.  That made me feel good and I started to plan out various articles.  I also started to finish up my blog article for the New York Enterprise Report.

Then a client called and wanted to make sure I was included in the conference call on Friday.  Right after that, another client called to find out why I hadn’t been to their office in a while.  “I know your staff has been here, but I haven’t seen you…” I made an appointment to meet up.

The day finished with a dinner meeting with an old friend and associate who runs an “internet” paper called the West Islip Tribune.  I was really impressed with his accomplishments and enjoyed our conversation.

And now, well, now, I’m watching the Biggest Loser on DVR and trying to figure out why in the world I thought I had writer‘s block…
