Banning Cell Phones In Cars?

This driver is using two phones at onceImage via WikipediaThese days, I hardly listen to AM or FM stations on the radio. I subscribe to Satellite Radio and have been enjoying the stations provided to me through Sirius/XM! But today, I listened to 1010 wins. I heard an interesting story while I was driving. It talked about new potential laws to outlaw cell phones in cars. The story talked about how more people get into accidents while dialing or text messaging their friends.

I was the car and I started to think about this. What about changing radio stations when you don’t like a song that’s on? Or, what about turning on the heat when it’s a cold day? Or, how many people do you see smoking a cigarette while driving? Or, what about talking with someone in the car? Aren’t these things a distraction?

So if they are, then maybe everything should be banned. No guests in the car, no radio, no MP3 hookup, no heat or air, no smoking, just basic car. This way, there are no distractions and you can concentrate on your driving only. Sound like a good idea?
