Fancy Meeting You at the Nail Salon!

Most of the time when I run errands, I never see anyone I know.  I do what I need to do and then go home.  But today, I got up early and went to the nail salon to get a manicure. I parked my car in my usual spot and as I was standing waiting to cross the street I hear, “is that Mrs. Topper?”

I turned around and saw my friend Madeline.  “What are you doing?” I asked her.

“Same as you, going to get my nails done,” she said.

I usually go to Best Nails in Long Beach but since I saw Madeline and wanted to catch up, I joined her at George’s, which is right next door to Best Nails.

When we entered, the owner told Madeline to sit in the second chair and told me to sit in the sixth chair. Madeline and I started to talk, well actually yell, across the room.  That’s when the owner decided to sit us next to each other.  (I guess no one really wanted to hear our conversation.)

We started catching up and in walked my friends, Sharyl and Tina.  I hadn’t seen either one of them since Sharyl’s Memorial Day party, so it was really nice to catch up a little with them as well.

After the polish set on my nails, I said my goodbye’s and started to think about how the nail salon is a great place to meet up with old friends.  It takes almost 10 – 15 minutes to dry so there is a lot of talk you can do.

I wish I saw my friends more often but since we are all so busy with our jobs and families, it’s hard to see and even talk to everyone.  But, if we all get our nails done on the same day of the week at the same time, we can have our own breakfast club…. Now wouldn’t that be nice?

I actually started chatting with another person in the nail salon a few weeks ago who has just started her own business and we ended up exchanging info and I was able to provide several useful ideas to her….we have since started to correspond via e-mail….you never know!  Another time a person who I see often in the salon came up to me and said…”was that you I saw in the newspaper?” See I’m even a celebrity at Start Nails!

I love when you see people randomly, especially those you care for. It’s almost more fun than when you schedule something.
