There’s something magical about eating lunch right on the water. The light dancing off the East River, the Brooklyn Bridge glowing in the distance, and a plate of gorgeous seafood in front of you. That’s exactly the scene my cousin, Mindy, and I stepped into when we visited The Fulton down at Pier 17 in the Seaport.
Mindy was in town from Colorado, and I wanted to treat her to something special. Lucky for us, our timing lined up perfectly with NYC Restaurant Week, which meant we could enjoy this Jean-Georges Vongerichten gem with a two-course lunch for $45. For a spot this beautiful, that felt like a real win.
A Venue That Steals the Show
Let me set the scene. The Fulton sits right at the end of the pier, so you’re practically surrounded by water. Big windows, stunning views, and that easy, elegant vibe that makes you sit up a little straighter. It’s the kind of place that makes an ordinary Tuesday feel like a celebration.
Is it a bit pricey? Sure. But some experiences earn their price tag, and this was one of them. The moment we walked in, Mindy leaned over and whispered, “This is amazing.” I couldn’t have agreed more.
The Food: Where Things Got Really Good
Jean-Georges is a name that carries weight in the food world, and you can taste why. Every dish felt thoughtful, fresh, and beautifully done.
I started with the Crispy Salmon Sushi, and honestly, I’m still thinking about it. It practically melted in my mouth. That perfect crunch gave way to something rich and buttery underneath. Incredible doesn’t quite cover it. If you go, order this. You won’t regret it.
Mindy kicked things off with the Fulton Caesar Salad, which she called simply delightful. Crisp, fresh, and dressed just right. A classic done well.
For our mains, we both landed on the Roasted Faroe Island Salmon, served with a black bean vinaigrette and a petite salad. The salmon was tender and flaky, and that vinaigrette added a bright, savory kick that tied everything together. Two clean plates at our table said it all.
Would I Go Back?
In a heartbeat. Between the water views, the warm service, and food that lived up to the Jean-Georges reputation, The Fulton delivered a night neither of us will forget. It’s a little splurge, yes, but the kind that’s absolutely worth it for a special occasion or a visiting cousin you want to spoil.
If you find yourself down by the Seaport, especially during Restaurant Week, do yourself a favor and book a table. Grab that Crispy Salmon Sushi, soak in the view, and enjoy every single bite.
