On Having a Bad Day…

Have you ever had a day where everything just seems to go wrong? Isn’t it funny how those days are always followed by days where everything goes right?

For me today was one of those days. At Peter Guyere Steakhouse in Rochester, I had a petite Filet Mignon. I think it was tainted because at 1 am, I woke up and got sick. Thereafter, I was up every hour on the hour, getting sick. Now I know that’s not the most pleasant image but I was definitely hurting!

At around 7 am, I emailed Lisa to tell her I wasn’t feeling well and to reschedule our days appointments. I was really upset about rescheduling because I hate doing that but I didn’t have choice.

When Lisa got to the hotel and saw me, she suggested that I change my appointment on JetBlue to an earlier flight. We switched the flight on the computer and were charged $140 more for the ticket. We decided to go back to her place to rest until the flight. At around 1:30 pm, I was still feeling pretty bad, and decided to take the later flight.

At first, JetBlue was receptive. They allowed me to change the flight back and waved the $40 charge fee. “But what about the $140?” I asked Lisa.

She called back. In her calm, sweet voice she spoke with a supervisor and was able to get me the $140 change fee back.

Throughout the day, I was so sick I couldn’t even sit up. Lisa was so wonderful. She was so caring and really helped me and I do appreciate that!

When it was time to get to the airport, Lisa and Gordon drove me there. We got there early. So I sat at the terminal and relaxed. (All I kept thinking was I hope I don’t have an episode here, by myself in this terminal!)

It was now 7 pm. We should be boarding soon. An announcement came on, “the flight to JFK is being held up. There is too much traffic in NY.”

More than 45 minutes later, we were boarding the plane. I was so out of it. I just walked like a zombie on the plane.

When we got to JFK, I took the air shuttle to long term parking. It took about 45 minutes from the time we landed until I got my car, but it was very convenient. And the best part, it only cost me $25 and it charged my E-Z pass!

I guess there is always good with bad…

I’m just glad you’re feeling better! What a visit to Rochester. January will be better – I promise!
