Erin and me

Inside the Platte River Fort

Brit and me

Upon stepping inside, you’re greeted with a rustic charm that transports you back in time. The interior boasts a spacious hangout room adorned with comfy couches, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration. It’s a great venue for a family party.

The kitchen was huge and had nice refrigerators and a big stove for cooking.

The Accommodations at Platte River Fort

The accommodation options vary. Some rooms offer the luxury of en-suite bathrooms, while others require a short trip down the hall. During our stay, we were given the fort rooms. We shared one room among three. My daughter and husband were in the adjacent room. We found the communal approach to bathroom facilities an adventurous aspect, albeit a bit challenging given the chilly weather conditions.

However, it’s worth noting that the shower being combined with the toilet was less than ideal and lent a sense of ‘glamping’ to the whole experience.

The Barn

Despite these minor inconveniences, the barn proved to be an exceptional venue for events. We had the pleasure of attending my cousin’s granddaughter’s “coming of age” party and the setting could not have been more perfect.

The expansive grounds are nothing short of spectacular, though they come with a distinct rural aroma – yes, the occasional waft of cow manure might reach your nostrils. But isn’t that part of the authentic farm experience?

My Takeaway

All in all, Platte River Fort offers a unique blend of rustic charm and outdoor adventure. While certain aspects of our stay were less than perfect, the overall experience was one that left us with beautiful memories and stories to tell. If you’re considering a visit, come prepared for a true taste of Colorado’s countryside and a memorable journey back in time.
