The Genius Bar At Apple Store…

My iPhone fell into the toilet.  It just did.  I wasn’t on it. I had it in my back pocket and when I went to sit down, it slid into the toilet. A message quickly came on the phone but I couldn’t read it fast enough and it was gone.  There was no sign of life.

I posted a message on Facebook. My friends told me to put the iPhone in a bowl of rice.  I flicked the cell phone and water was coming out everywhere.  I put it in the bowl of rice and I let it sit.  One of my Facebook friends told me that it just takes a few hours and the phone is as good as new.

I was excited to turn on the phone in the morning.  But, it didn’t work. I immediately made an appointment to the Genius Bar in Roosevelt Field.  I got a 1:15 pm appointment.

I hurried to the Apple store at Roosevelt Field and sat in line.  It was only 1pm and I had 15 minutes to wait.  At exactly 1:15 pm, I was called. The guy behind the counter told me that my phone was fried. “Another phone will cost you $199 but since this is your first time at the Genius Bar, we will give it to you for free.”

I was shocked.  How nice was that! He gave me a brand new 4G iPhone and I walked out of the store with a working phone in hand.

I went up to the food court and tried to make a call. I noticed that it said 3G on the phone. I started to freak out. Did they give me a 3G phone instead of a 4G?

I ran back down to the store, where I was greeted by a friendly associate. “I’m sorry but 3G is your network,” she said. “I can assure you that you have a 4G phone.”

Totally embarrassed, I walked out of the store.  I drove home, plugged my phone into my computer and found most of the information was recovered.

Although it was a pain setting up a brand new iPhone, I was pleasantly surprised at how well I was treated and how accommodating the staff was at Apple.  Maybe that’s why their stock keeps going through the roof!
