Where to stay in Bermuda?

I recently went back to the South Hampton Fairmont. This time, my husband and I decided to stay on the premises the entire time. (On other trips to Bermuda, we ventured off and went into Hamilton and the Navy Dockyard, among many other areas. But this time, we stayed put. And you know what? I liked it!)
The South Hampton Fairmont is elegant. It’s a 6 story building set on top of a hill that overlooks the golf course, the beach and the ocean.
The only time, we went outside of the hotel was to play golf on one of the nicest courses, I’ve ever played. The course, Port Royale, is a magnificent course. It’s very challenging and has many high tee boxes and/or steep greens! The 16th hole is their signature hole where you play from one tee box and have to get the ball across an island. (And, if you get a hole in one and take a photo, you get a free drink!)
We’ve played this course once before and we really enjoyed it. But, beware, there are lots of hills to climb and the cart can only go 90 degree angles so you will have to walk.
We also played the par 3 course, called Turtle Hill Golf Course, at the hotel. This is no walk in the park. This course is tough. It also has lots of hills and steep grades. But it’s a gorgeous course and lots of fun to
In addition to the golf, the hotel also has a host of tennis courts and its own private beach.
You take a little pink shuttle to get down to the beach and once you’re there, there are lots of facilities including a restaurant, bathrooms, showers, a gift shop, dive shop and more. I love that there are lots of chaise lounges for everyone including umbrellas. (If you know me, you know I don’t love to be in the sun. I prefer to sit in the shade and that’s exactly what I did.)

There are several restaurants on the premises as well. There’s Bacci, the Italian Restaurant, where the lasagna is the signature dish. I also had the chicken parm, which was incredibly tasty. We had a nice California Wine with Dinner and the two nights that we were there, we started with either the Caesar salad or the caprese salad. The second night, we finished off the meal with a tiramisu.

The Waterlot Inn is their expensive steak restaurant. When we walked in, we were escorted to a lounge area for a drink before dinner. They let us stay there as long as we wanted, which was a nice touch. After that, they seated us downstairs for our dinner. I had a surf and turf (filet mignon and lobster) and my husband had the lamb chops. Both were excellent. We finished our meal with a delicious bananas foster (my favorite)! The restaurant was set in an old style steakhouse, it was beautifully decorated and the seats were exceptionally comfortable.

We found the two restaurants to be quite good for lunch as well — The Burger Bar at Wickets and the Cabana Bar & Grill. I ended up eating a lot of burgers, but they really were delicious!
From fine food, amazing beaches and challenging golf, what could be better on a vacation? The Fairmont South Hampton is a place I will continue to frequent in years to come!

Could not agree more. We took 600 people to the “Southampton Princess” — OK, Fairmont — and it was amazing!
All the restaurants, beaches, pools, etc. you mention — Yes! And as your experience, even though the tour companies took us to the Royal Naval Dockyard, amazing tours of the islands, a lot of our group stayed put at the hotel on a hill.
We did venture on the water shuttle between the hotel and the Hamilton “Princess” / Hamilton — superb trip!
Forgot the mention it is right next door to world-famous Horseshoe Bay, through this little gate at the entrance to the hotel’s superb beach / waterfront restaurants. Even during the cruise ship and tourist seasons, you get to be there early in the morning and late at night when the amateur beach-goers have fled.
Thanks Tom! It’s so gorgeous there! It’s a great place to hold a conference too. Thanks for sharing your experience.
