Why Do Fashionable Shoes Hurt So Bad?

Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weizman, Ferragamo, and Robert Clergere are just a few of the different brands of shoes I love to wear. When Jildor or DSW are having a sale, my heart starts to throb and the next thing I know, I’m in my car driving to the store.

Like many other women who have my passion, I have shoes for different seasons and every few months, I swap one pair out with another pair.

I feel funny admitting this but it’s true. So when I work on Long Island or Rochester I can wear whatever shoes I want, especially if I don’t have to walk anywhere! But Manhattan is a different story.  I have to wear comfortable walking shoes.  However, I don’t always remember that and end up wearing one of my high-heeled shoes.

Do you know how many times I’ve done that?  Four!  How do I know?  Because every time I wear high-healed shoes, the balls of my feet start to burn.  I also get blisters on the back of my feet and you know what happens?  I can’t walk!

So what do I do?  I end up going into Aerosole or the Walking Company or one of those orthotic type shoe stores and I look for the most comfortable shoes in the store, no matter how they look, and I buy them. And then after that, I’m walking around the city in “old lady” shoes not feeling fashionable at all.

Shoe makers: Can’t you make a stylist shoe that is comfortable too??? Can you help me and my sisters out here for a change.  You entice us to buy amazing looking shoes and they may hurt in the store but because they are so beautiful, we think the pain will go away… But guess what? It doesn’t!

Women are so much smarter than men is so many ways, except when it comes to shoes. There are very few men who would spend more than five minutes in a pair of shoes that were not comfortable, no matter how good they make us look. Take wing tips, for example. Are they good looking? Hardly. but they are dressy and you can wear them for 12 hours without needing to visit a podiatrist once you're done, and you can walk the streets of Manhattan without pedial repercussions. My point? If women insisted on comfort over aesthetics then the fashionistas would make comfortable shoes. good luck with that, however.
