App Review: OPI

My daughter recently told me about an app that she thought I would enjoy having, called OPI, which is actually a brand name of nail polish.

OPI and Essie are the two brands that you see most at nail salons across the country. I always prefer the OPI brand because I think it lasts longer than the Essie brand.

I love going to the nail salon. OPI usually has a ton of colors from which to choose. I find myself standing in front of dozens of colors having a hard time deciding what to get. Should I get red? Blue? Green? Clear?

That’s why I found the new OPI app very helpful. When you turn it on, it loads all the new colors and then shows you a picture of a hand. Depending on your tone, you can make the hand lighter or darker. Since I am very pale, I turned it on the lightest.

There is also a wheel on the app that changes the nail polish color on the hand and shows you the name of the color above the hand.

So instead of choosing an ugly color that I would have to live with for days after my manicure or pedicure, I can now decide before going into the salon what color I want.

There are eight collections of colors ranging from the Shrek (bright funky colors) or the Burlesque (splashy colors) collection to the Katy Perry (sparkly colors) or Hong Kong (series of reds) collection. If you don’t want to search through each collection, you can also search by the family of colors.

In addition, if you are at a nail salon as I was today, you could type in the name of the color to see how it would look on your similar type skin tone. I did it and was impressed with how accurate the picture was to the finished product on my hand.

If you have a favorite color or one that you just love when it is applied at a nail salon, you can save it in the app as your favorite to refer back at a later time instead of thinking, what was the name of that color I used last week?

When I was growing up and even into my twenties, the only colors for nails were reds, oranges or natural colors. Today, there are so many different variety of colors including: Jade is the New Black, Green-wich Village and Ski Teal We Drop. It’s fun to experiment with colors but if you get one you don’t like, you’re stuck. The OPI app alleviates that and when you walk out of the salon, you look at your nails and you just feel good!

I have a material connection because I received a sample of a product for consideration in preparing to write this content.
I am not expected to return this item after my review period.

This is great — I had a similar idea for an app a while ago and thought that OPI or Essie should get in on this — and they did! Going to download —
