Galil Sauvignon Blanc Wine Review

After tasting the bottle of Yarden Cabernet Sauvignon and thinking how impressed I was with the taste, the flavors and the color of this fine wine, I thought it would be interesting to see how a white wine would taste. Hence, Galil Sauvignon Blanc!

I never knew that Israel produced fine wines. My knowledge about wines expanded from California to Italy and France. Once in a while I would have an Argentinian wine, but that was about it. Then, one of my former students introduced me to the Yarden brand and now I’m hooked.

Yarden imports wines from the Golan Heights Winery and Galil Mountain Winery in Israel. Headquartered in New York, the brand distributes wines throughout 40 US states.

I drink red wine. That’s what I’m used to and that’s what I prefer. However, once in a while a good white on either a hot summer day sitting in the backyard or on a cold winter’s evening while the fireplace is going, is simply perfect! I found that the Galil Sauvignon Blanc would be the wine of my choice.

The Galil Suvignon Blanc was delightful. It was light, yet dry. It paired great with cheese that I picked up at a local shop and it also paired well with fish.

The wine notes say that this wine was “hand-harvested and underwent a fermentation process in stainless steel tanks to preserve its fruity character.” It’s best served at 46 – 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

The bottle costs $17.99 and can be picked up at a local wine store. These Israeli wines are definitely worth the taste and it’s a perfect wine for this Valentine’s Day! Happy Valentine’s Day!
