The Girl Scouts of Nassau County has been a long time client of HJMT COMMUNICATIONS, LLC. HJMT has helped Girl Scouts with their publicity, graphic design, and now social media.
For the past several years, I have joined Hilary at the Girl Scouts annual golf outing. It seems like every year they end up having crazy weather. One time there was a hail storm (in the middle of August) and one time it was the hottest day of the year.
This year Girl Scouts of Nassau County decided to hold their first walkathon to support GSNC’s Healthy Living Initiative. The walk, Girls Go The Distance, was held at Jones Beach on Sunday, April 25.
Do you remember that day? The weather was horrible. It was raining so hard we could barely see each other. The HJMT team put on our sweatshirts and rain gear and headed to Jones Beach. Even though it was super cold and wet it was amazing to see the amount of support and enthusiasm at Jones Beach. There were tons of girls, families, volunteers, and local corporate leaders present to all show their support of Girl Scouts.
Lori Alexy and I were brave enough (or crazy enough) to actually walk the walk. We did the 2 miles in no time. The cheery volunteers along the way even made us forgot about the bad weather and the cold wind and made us feel proud that we were supporting such a good cause.
I hope next year the Girl Scouts get a blue bird day for their walk because they sure do deserve it!
