Lido Kosher Deli Review

lido kosher deli

If you didn’t know by now, I grew up in Long Beach, NY. Lido Kosher Deli has always been a staple there. When someone had a baby naming, a bris, or a funeral, you called Lido Kosher Deli on East Park Avenue in Long Beach. But it was also the place to go to get delicious deli sandwiches and a good bowl of matzoh ball soup.

Owner, Wally Goetz

“Jewish” delicatessens have been dwindling as of late but Lido Kosher Deli continues to stay strong. Recently, owner, Wally Goetz’ son, Russel, joined the business.

My friend, Jane Pace who is the writer of BonappetitMom.com blog, was invited to the deli to review it. She invited me to join her.

Instead of my usual go-to at the deli, which is a turkey on rye with a cup of split pea soup, we were given an array of foods including:

  • Soups – We got one matzoh ball soup, a cup of mushroom barley and a cup of split pea soup.

  • Appetizers – Russel brought out mini hot dogs and mini knishes. They were yummy delicious.
  • Sandwich – The last item they brought out was one sandwich, a super deluxe corn beef with coleslaw on rye bread. It was huge!

We finished the meal with a cup of coffee. I didn’t love the super deluxe corn beef and coleslaw sandwich but I could definitely see a market for it.

The food at Lido Kosher Deli is consistently good. In addition to Turkey on Rye, I also have had falafel, which I have loved. Their rugalach is delicious too.

If you’re ever in Long Beach, NY area and you’re in the mood for Kosher deli, definitely check out Lido Kosher Deli. The food is awesome and you’ll thank me for the recommendation.
