This past Thursday HJMT – @HJMT once again helped with the charity event, Twestival 2010 – @Twestival (or Twitter Festival), an opportunity for Twitter users and local supporters to get off the computer and meet in their community while raising money to support a worthwhile cause. Twestival is a global event organized entirely by volunteers. This year’s charity of choice? – Concern Worldwide – @Concern.
Concern Worldwide was founded in 1968 to meet the needs of people living in extreme poverty, for whom every day is a fight for survival. Concern is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of poverty. Their mission is to help people achieve major improvements in their lives, improvements they cannot sustain without ongoing support. Concern meets the needs of these people in a caring and personalized manner, respecting their human and cultural dignity. They are committed to reaching the most vulnerable, even in the most difficult of circumstances.
So what did HJMT do? We decided to donate our time utilizing our contacts to rally for raffle prizes for the local RocTwestival – @RocTwestival held at Lovin’ Cup – @LovinCupROC in Rochester, NY. We reached out to many of the people we had met over the past year and a half since our office launch and many were kind enough to donate prizes to the event.
