Vacation Getaway: Park City, Utah

My family and I decided to get away spring break to Park City, Utah. We haven’t gone skiing as a family in years and decided it was time. The last time I was in Park City, Utah was nearly 30 years ago. Obviously, a lot had changed, but one thing remained the same, the beauty of the mountains covered with snow!

We stayed at Main & Sky right in town. It was only a block away from the Town Lift, which takes you to the mid-station. The hotel was lovely. It consists of a series of suites. We had a two bedroom suite with a small comfortable living room. It had a microwave, tiny refrigerator and coffee maker. It also had two bathrooms. The master bathroom, had a shower and a tub in the center of the room, that filled up from the ceiling.  Some of the suites have their own private hot tubs. But there is a public hot tub and lap pool on the lower level.

The Main & Sky staff were amazing. On day one of our vacation, we asked if someone could take us into town. Since there was no one on call, the assistant manager, Amanda, told us she would take us. The entire staff were that accommodating!

They would take us to the mountain in the morning and pick us up in the evening. They even took us to Deer Valley when we decided to ski there the second day. Deer Valley is the next town over from Park City.

The hotel had a nice hot tub and lap pool. Unfortunately, it was super cold and I had a hard time getting in. (I didn’t bring my usual swimming attire either — swim cap, one piece bathing suit, etc.).

The mountains were amazing. I really enjoyed skiing Park City and the Canyons . I preferred the skiing at Deer Valley, however, once my daughter joined us, we were unable to go there because she snowboards and the mountain is ski only.

The town of Park City is lovely. It spans only a couple of blocks and has upscale boutique stores, ski shops and restaurants. My daughter and I spent one day walking around while my son and husband hit the slopes.

Most of the food was just okay, nothing special. It was pretty expensive too! But on the last night we went to Riverhorse on Main and we had the best dinner of the trip. My son had a trio of Elk, Buffalo and Venison. My husband and I had the lamb chops and my daughter had the halibut special. All were superb. We finished off the meal with a blueberry cobbler and chocolate molten. Can I say more?

If you’re looking for a great family vacation that’s not too far from a major airport, Park City, Utah is the place. I’m can’t wait to go back next year!
