Where to Stay in St. Croix?

bedroom st croix

There are dozens of amazing places to stay in St. Croix.I stayed at one of the top hotel on the island, called the Buccaneer Hotel which is in Christiansted and visited The Fred in Fredriksted

The Baccaneer Hotel in Christiansted

I attended a press trip to St. Croix and stayed at the Buccaneer Hotel and Spa.The hotel has a lot of amenities including an 18-hole golf course with rolling hills, tennis courts, beaches, a running trail and more.

Unfortunately, when I stayed there, I was unable to use the golf course, but it looked challenging with little shade. So, if you do stay there for golf, go out early or later in the day. The tennis courts have lights and I noticed people playing into the evening.

The hotel has a full spa. Although I didn’t get a chance to experience it, it looked awesome.

The land and sea excursions can all be booked through the front desk of the hotel. They have snorkel tours, scuba lessons and then on the premises there is everything from basketball to crab races. They even have bioluminescent kayaking or an ATV tour!

Each evening, the Buccaneer has music for your entertainment. One night, we had dinner at The Terrace. Everyone seemed to love their dishes. I ordered a Caribbean lobster in size medium. It was huge! If I knew better, I would have ordered the small! But, it tasted delicious! The lobster came with creamy mashed potatoes and asparagus.

It was funny. Our waiter’s name was Gary Tupper. My brother in law’s name is Gary Topper. So, we joked!

In addition to that, they have a couple of small shops, but if I were you, I would save my shopping for town.

The Buccaneer has been owned and operated since 1947 by the same family. They are celebrating 70 years and thankfully, when the storm came to the Island, they didn’t have as much damage as some of the other resorts.

The rooms are gorgeous. I stayed in a large room, facing the ocean with two double beds. There was a refrigerator in every room, along with a dressing room and large bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub.

Rooms start at $400 and up.

Another Hotel Choice is the Fred in Frederiksted

The Fred is a boutique hotel. It has intimate but beautifully decorated rooms. It’s situated right on the beach in Frederiksted.

Currently, it is still under construction but fully functional, the hotel looks like a SoHo style resort. The main area, called the Cock’s lounge, has green leather couches with pop art paintings of Roosters.

While we were there, we visited the Audrey Hepburn room, which was simply awesome! In the front and back of the hotel, there was a comfy deck to hang out on.

In the backyard, the hotel is currently putting in a pool and bar area. The outside bathrooms are all state of the art.

There’s a deck, currently under construction at the publishing of this blog, that will span the length of the beach. The beach is small but intimate.

The Fred has a full spa with everything that you would need to make your vacation comfortable and relaxing. What’s nice about this hotel is it’s actually in town so you can walk everywhere.

Rooms start at $350 and up.
