When I was writing How to Give Your Business an Extreme Marketing Makeover, my focus was exclusively on exactly what the title implies: helping established businesses replace worn-out, ineffective marketing with marketing that would and could accomplish more in less time.
Throughout the months that followed publication I started to question: Why does a business have to wait until it makes mistakes before employing the principles of the extreme marketing makeover? Why can’t a startup business or a new business apply my simple but effective process for building a better marketing process?
Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without Facebook or Twitter? It’s not that long ago that these two social networking sites weren’t even on an advertiser’s radar but today, they are more prevalent than ever. More and more corporations and agencies are focusing their ad campaigns on sending consumers to be a “like” on their Facebook page or to be a “follower” on their Twitter site.
Why? Billions of people worldwide have social networking pages. With the prevalence of social media, it only makes sense for advertisers to take advantage of this popularity and use it to their benefit. Companies are finding that by directing their target audiences to their social networking sites, it allows them the chance to better promote their goods and services more effectively, efficiently and most important, personally. Today it’s all about transparency. People want to know the person behind the service or the product. People want to feel a connection. Without it, there is something missing.
When I first bought my iPad, I purchased the Apple case to go along with it. I had the case for a while but was very unhappy with it because it always looked dirty and I was embarrassed to use it during new business presentations.
So, I found another case online at Rue La La. I bought a Terrida leather case that looked very professional but was totally impractical. Every time I tried to use the iPad, I had to take it out of the case completely, especially when I needed to plug it into a socket. I think I paid more than $75 for the case that I am now unhappy with.
On a recent flight back from Milan to New York, I was a passenger on AlItalia. I had never been on this airline before. When I traveled from New York to Milan, I flew Delta. (Since I have a Delta American Express Card and accumulate mileage every time I charge, I tend to fly Delta.)
I was very impressed. The plane was new. Each seat was equipped with a remote control and touch screen panel where you can get a series of movies, entertainment, television, music, games and even stuff for teens and kids (which included games, movies ad even television). In the game section, you could play by yourself or with other people on the plane.
I had a meeting in the city this afternoon on 12th and University, at the University Cafe. I drove in to the city as I
If you didn’t think there was a structured university to learn all about social media, you are wrong. After reading the book, Engage, The Complete Guide for Brands and Businesses to Build, Cultivate, and Measure Success in the New Web, by Brian Solis with a forward by Ashton Kutcher, you will have your Master’s degree!
What I loved about the book is that it focuses on sociology and anthropology and how our world is changing with the use of social media.
